She begins to idolize the young athlete and eventually transfers to Korea to attend the same school that Tae Joon attends after he suffers an accident that could potentially end his career. I Got a Boy is the fourth Korean studio album (sixth overall) by South Korean girl group Girls' Generation. It was released on January 1, 2013, by S.M. Entertainment. The album, which contains recordings dating back to 2008, is the first Korean album by the whole group after a fourteen-month hiatus, a sub-unit of members TaeTiSeo in April 2012 and the release of their second Japanese album, Girls' Generation II: Girls & Peace. Member Seohyun explained the album strays away from the group's usual releases with the album being described as a "time machine" which explores the group's past and future.
The album was preceded by the pre-release single, "Dancing Queen", released on December 21, 2012. The title track, "I Got a Boy", was released digitally on January 1, 2013. According to Billboard, the album contains "polished K-pop confections" that combines many different musical elements such as 80s new wave, electronic dance music, and modern R&B, that would appeal to not just K-Pop fans but also other listeners of popular music as well.

Singles
"Dancing Queen" was released as a pre-release single on December 21, 2012. "Dancing Queen", a remake of Welsh singer Duffy's song "Mercy" was recorded in 2008 as a comeback song after a nine-month hiatus, however plans were scrapped due to copyright issues and the group went with "Gee". "Dancing Queen" received an all-kill on all seven Korean music sites within a day of its release
"I Got a Boy" was released digitally on January 1, 2013. Two teasers for the video were released; drama version was released on December 26, 2012, while the dance version was released on December 28, 2012. The "I Got A Boy" music video and album were released simultaneously at 5 p.m. The video, as well as the teaser in the "Dancing Queen" video, became the center of public scrutiny after several screenshots from the video circulated on the internet with Sunny's hat having the words "WELCOME MOTHERF★CKERS" printed on it.

Girls' Generation II: Girls & Peace (stylized as GIRLS' GENERATION II Girls & Peace) is the second Japanese album (fifth overall) by South Korean Girl Group Girls Generation. It was released on November 28, 2012 through Nayutawave Record. Girls & Peace is the first release by all the members since their third Korean studio album "TheBoys" (2011), after the group entered a semi-hiatus to pursue solo activities in South Korea, in which time, TaTiSeo, the group's first subunit was created. Continuing the electro-influenced sound from their first Japanese album, Girls & Peace features a wide range of contribution from producers, including long-time collaborator, Kenzie, as well as multiple new producers such as Miles Walker, Deekay and Dao Torimiro. The album sold over 116,000 copies in its first week, reaching the third spot on the Oricon Album chart, and has since received a Platinum certification from the RIAJ.
Three singles were released prior to the release of the album: "Paparazzi" reached the top of the Jaan Hot 100, with "Oh! / All My Love Is For You" also peaking at the same spot as well as number-one on the Oricon chart. "Flower Power" peaked at number six on the Hot 100 and number five on the Oricon chart. The group promoted the album and its singles through various Japanese music and variety shows including Hey! Hey! Hey! Music Champ and Music Lovers, and are set to embark on their Secound  Japan Arena Tour in February 2013.

Singles

"Paparazzi" was released as the album's lead single on June 26, 2012. It continued the group's streak of successful Japanese releases, debuting at number one on the Japan Hot 100 and peaking at number two on the Oricon Weekly Chart, with opening week sales amounting to over 92,000 copies. "Paparazzi" was released in South Korea two months later on August 16, 2012. The single helped push the group's total physical single sales in the country to 647,000.
"Oh! / All My Love Is For You" served as the second single, being released on September 26, 2012. The double A-Side single featured a Japanese remake of "Oh!" (2010), as well as an original song entitled "All My Love is for You", which appears on the album. "Oh! / All My Love is for You" provided the group with another number one single on the Japan Hot 100, as well as the Oricon Weekly Chart.
"Flower Power" was released as album's third single on November 21, 2012. Originally scheduled for release on November 14, the single was pushed back to November 21 due to production issues. The single also contains the B-side entitled "Beep Beep", which does not appear on the album, as well as a megamix of the tracks on "Girls & Peace." The single was ultimately released on the original release date of November 14, via digital download containing "Flower Power", "Beep Beep" and "Girls' Generation II Smash Up." The single reached number six on the Hot 100, and number five on Oricon's Weekly Chart.
